Individual and group works in painting and photography are eligible. Attractive prizes that support young artists on their professional path are intended to encourage emerging talent in Germany in particular to take part. The individual winners are offered the printing of their own catalogue worth 10,000 euros, the design of their own website worth 4,000 euros and a voucher for artists’ supplies worth 1,500 euros. All women and men aged between 18 and 45 are now invited to submit their images. Freely following Robert Gernhard’s motto: “Got anything to do with art? Good.”
Art is images: images of dreams, attitudes, wishes, goals, hopes, realities. For the third time, the Gesellschafter ART.AWARD 08 motto “Art wanted, shape the future” encourages artists in Germany to engage with the issues of their society. Submissions are invited from March 1 to June 28, 2008. As every year, the prominent expert jury of artists, curators, mediators and collectors selects 10 works. These images will be put to a vote online from July15, 2008. For now it is the general public’s turn. In the only public voting process among the well-known art prizes, anyone interested can name their favourites and help choose the three winners.
Nomination for the online vote already means public attention and entry into the international art market for the emerging artists. In a dedicated special exhibition at ART.FAIR 21 – Fair for Current Art – in the autumn, the ten best will have the opportunity to present their work to the international art market’s large audience. The Gesellschafter ART.AWARD 08 thus not only challenges artists to engage with society but also encourages the wider public to discuss works of art and take part in the vote.
