With the models in the Gigashot A series and Gigashot K series, which are among the smallest and lightest in the world1, Toshiba is expanding its video camera range to include HDTechnology.
At the same time, it complements the extensive range of lifestyle technology products with which HD films can be recorded in no time, edited on a notebook and burned to disc. The Gigashot range is comprehensively equipped and offers
HD video and still-image functions, among other features. With built-in hard drive capacity of up to 100 GB and true 1080i HD recording, the Gigashot range is the perfect next-generation video solution – at an attractive price. Both camera series offer a 3-inch widescreen TFT LCD colour display with brilliant reproduction, a quick-start function, electronic
image stabilisation and a range of automatic and manual white balance settings that meet even demanding requirements.
To capture high-quality still images, the Gigashot A- and K-series video cameras are also equipped with an SD/SDHC card slot supporting storage capacity of up to 8 GB. Both Gigashot series offer various connection options, such as a component video A/V output that allows images to be transferred directly to a television, and an HDMI connection for linking to an HD television. The USB mini connector allows data to be transferred directly to a PC. The new camcorders are now available exclusively from ElectronicPartner.
The A and K series also offer an extensive range of additional accessories, such as Pixela’s “ImageMixerTM3” and “Nero Vision” software suites, which make transferring, creating and editing videos quick, easy and convenient.
Gigashot A series
The models in Toshiba’s Gigashot A series, which rank among the smallest video cameras on the market at just 78.1 mm x 135.4 mm x 79 mm and
a weight of 495 grams, record interlaced MPEG-4/H.264 video at full 1080i HD resolution (1920 x 1080/1400 x 1080 pixels). The combination of a high-quality Fujinon zoom lens (10x optical/80x digital; 4.5 to 45 mm focal length) and a 1/3” CMOS image sensor is crucial to the high quality of the video recordings. The built-in hard drive capacity is matched to the video quality of the Gigashot A models. At launch, the
two model variants Gigashot A40F with 40 GB of hard drive storage and Gigashot A100F with 100 GB of storage capacity will be available. The Gigashot A100F can therefore store more than 12 hours of high-definition video or up to 23 hours of standard-definition video.
Gigashot K series
For filmmakers who need to keep a closer eye on their budgets, the Gigashot K series also offers interlaced MPEG-4/H.264 high-definition video at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The K series includes a quality zoom lens (10x optical/30x digital) with a focal length of 6.0 to 60 mm and also features a 1/3” CMOS image sensor. Two variants are offered in this series: a model with 80 GB (Gigashot K80H) and one with 40 GB (Gigashot K40H).
Prices and availability
The Toshiba Gigashot A- and K-series models will be available immediately. The recommended retail prices (including VAT) for the Gigashot A 100F and A 40F models are 1,199 euros and 999 euros respectively. The Gigashot K 80H and K 40H models are available at recommended retail prices (including VAT) of 799 euros and 699 euros respectively. Toshiba provides a two-year international manufacturer’s warranty on the Gigashot models.
