Kampfer adds that REV drives can provide removable storage for multimedia content libraries. Iomega says each 120 GB REV disk can hold approximately 48,000 photographs, 2,000 hours of music, or twelve hours of high-definition video.
“We are pleased that Iomega remains committed to this technology with the third REV generation and has significantly increased capacity and performance with REV 120,” says Ralf Haarmeyer, product manager at Wortmann.
“As a beta tester, we were able to evaluate the REV 120 drives in advance. Support from specialist retailers in recent years has shown that flexible, disk-based storage solutions meet market expectations. Wortmann has therefore decided to integrate the latest REV 120 generation into our servers immediately. We also offer REV to specialist retailers as a backup option for Terra servers and PCs.”
Wortmann is a long-standing Iomega partner in Germany and has recommended REV technology to customers since the first generation.
The Iomega REV 120 GB backup drive provides transfer rates of up to 35 MB/s, support from specialist software vendors, and an estimated archival life of 30 years. The company rates REV 120 GB media for one million write operations.
Unlike tape products that require frequent cleaning of read/write heads, tape retensioning, and costly media replacement, Iomega describes REV drives and disks as maintenance-free and designed for reliable long-term operation.
