Weblication Gives Ski-Jumping Champion Janne Ahonen an Online Boost

MMPA launches the official website at janne-ahonen.eu using Weblication CMS, offering a behind-the-scenes view of World Cup events in three languages.

MMPA Multimediaproduktion Allgäu, a full-service internet provider based in Sonthofen and a sales partner of Scholl Communications in Kehl, has launched the official website of Finnish ski-jumping world champion Janne Ahonen. The site is based on the Weblication CMS content-management system, which has sold more than 8,500 copies.

At janne-ahonen.eu, visitors have recently been able to access a website designed in Finnish and English, with a German version due shortly, containing extensive information about the multiple Four Hills Tournament winner. Under the “JA Reports” link, readers can find texts written by Janne Ahonen about current World Cup events. The versatile athlete also designed the logo himself.

The site also provides press releases and information about sponsor Konica Minolta. It includes an image gallery, a guestbook, and a newsletter function. A password-protected login area gives Janne Ahonen, administrators, and other moderators access to the backend for maintaining the website.

Until now, only Janne Ahonen fan pages had been available online. The new official website, managed by MMPA—which also created the web presence of German ski jumper Georg Späth—allows the athlete to present himself through his own writing and receive direct feedback from fans through the guestbook.

Weblication CMS allows content, images, and navigation to be maintained and updated quickly and cost-effectively. Support for English, Finnish, and German also ensures that an international audience can obtain information about the athlete and the World Cup.

“The first official Janne Ahonen website not only gives visitors a comprehensive overview of all his past and current activities, but naturally also offers the opportunity to get to know him personally, so to speak, because he was closely involved in the design and comments on events in the World Cup circuit through a kind of tour diary,” explains MMPA managing director Alexander Rist. “Weblication’s particular advantage is that Janne himself and other contributors can maintain the website’s content easily and conveniently without any knowledge of HTML.”
