LOLA Festival Screens German Film Nominees

LOLA Festival 08 brings nominated German Film Award titles from the 2007–2008 cinema year to around twelve German cities.

From 16 to 20 April, the German Film Academy will again provide an opportunity to watch every nominee for Best Feature Film, Best Documentary and Best Children and Youth Film on the large screen. Audiences in cities including Ansbach, Bad Freienwalde, Berlin, Bremerhaven, Dettelbach, Freiburg, Hamburg, Cologne, Marburg, Munich, Rendsburg and Würzburg can follow the Academy’s decision process.

Nominees, other participating filmmakers and Academy members will travel through Germany during the festival. For the first time, a LOLA bus carrying surprise guests will visit selected festival cities and introduce films to audiences.

These LOLA ambassadors will also work with local cinema operators to organise evenings and connect viewers with the Academy through discussions.

Tele5 joins as a major media partner for the first time, supporting LOLA Festival 08 with coverage, trailers and local activities.

The nominees for the 2008 German Film Awards will be announced live on ZDF Morgenmagazin between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. on 28 March 2008. Further information about the festival films and accompanying events will follow after the nominations.

Das Erste will broadcast the 2008 German Film Awards ceremony on Friday, 25 April from 9:45 p.m. in a 120-minute live or time-delayed programme, presented for the first time by Barbara Schöneberger. A repeat follows on rbb at 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, 27 April.
