The organisers of the German Multimedia Award (DMMA) have extended the
deadline for project submissions to April 1, 2008. The reason given is that the organisers are responding to the “frequently expressed wish” of potential entrants to use the Easter holidays to prepare their applications. DMMA 2008 comprises a total of twelve categories for online, offline or mobile applications. It sees itself as the most important competition in the online economy. Last year, 37 nominees and twelve award winners emerged from a field of 368 entries.
In particular, the fact that the dominant Advertising/PR category has been divided into the new categories Corporate Communications / Publishing, Product Communication, Social Communication and Marketing Activities is likely to improve the chances of winning an award further. In addition, the Mobile, IPTV and Multimedia Installations categories promise genuine highlights given the rapid development in these areas, the organisers say in their promotion. According to their figures, around 4,000 works in total have entered the German Multimedia Award since 1996. Around 100 award winners have been able to celebrate winning the distinction during that time.
A distinguished jury, whose members are to be announced “shortly”, will examine the submitted entries in two rounds of judging. Afterwards, all participants will receive individual feedback to assess their own position in the competitive field. The best projects that make it onto the nomination list will be presented in the German Multimedia Award yearbook after the competition has ended. The awards ceremony takes place at the conclusion of the German Multimedia Congress – DMMK Digitale Wirtschaft on June 18, 2008, in Berlin. Presenter Oliver Welke will then invite the award winners onto the stage.
German-language online and offline productions first published or fundamentally updated after March 1, 2007, are eligible to participate. The submission categories for the German Multimedia Award 2008 and further details can be found on the DMMA website.
