NanoXX Firmware Adds Multi-Recorder Functions

New software is now available to download for the NanoXX 9500 HD digital HDTV receiver.

The update allows users to record two programmes simultaneously. A third programme on the same transponder can also be watched or recorded, with delayed viewing available through timeshift.

“The timeshift duration can be adjusted. Teletext, subtitles and DVB subtitles can also be recorded,” says Daniel Sam, sales director at MatriXX Systems in Liederbach am Taunus. The new software can remove advertising blocks from a programme after recording. Recording lead-in and run-on times can now also be configured.

“The new software also adds a PVR settings menu and expands the general menu’s functions,” Sam says. Users can now edit the channel list directly in the OK list. Help displays have also been added to the EPG and information banner. Pressing the Info button in the USB file manager displays programme, transponder, channel and date information.

The integrated PVR function stores digital video recordings on external hard drives through the built-in USB 2.0 interface. The Ethernet interface supports software upgrades and data transfers over a home network. “The easiest option is to download the upgrade from the internet. It is extremely simple,” says Sam.

The device can be connected to a DSL router through its RJ45 network interface using a standard network cable. “The box then obtains an IP address automatically and can communicate with other network components,” Sam explains, adding: “It could not be easier, faster or more convenient.” The receiver connects to the internet when required to retrieve newer software versions. Software can also be loaded easily from USB storage.

The NanoXX 9500 HD has already been tested and recommended by satellite television channel DrDish Television. It is designed to combine strong reception with file playback in MP3, JPG, AVI and Xvid formats. Films and photographs stored on an external hard drive or USB flash drive can be viewed directly.

“The device is also prepared for the future of encrypted television channels,” Sam says. The receiver has two CI slots and a card reader supporting the Conax, X-Crypt, DG-Crypt, Firecrypt and Crypton encryption systems.

The silver HD box has a matte-black front and an alphanumeric display. It provides 10,000 presets for television and radio channels. Its integrated Blind Scan automatically finds television channels carried in broadband MCPC packages as well as narrow-band SCPC signals such as those used through Turksat.
