Video to Go Brings Online Clips to Phones

ViiF lets users send favourite online videos from YouTube and other services to mobile phones with a click.

At http://www.viif.de/video-mitnehmen, online clips can be sent to a user’s ViiF video box within seconds, making them available to watch again from anywhere on a mobile phone through a video call to 22557.

Forwarding a video requires neither software installation on the phone nor mobile-internet access. Users enter only the clip’s URL and their mobile number.

They then dial the number, start a video call and open “My Videos” to watch, comment on and forward favourite clips to friends. The user becomes a video jockey who can take online videos onto a phone within seconds whenever desired.

Television channel UProm.TV is integrating the service into its own online video platform. Users can click the “Send video to phone” button beside the video player and enter the corresponding mobile number. If they like a film, they can send the video to their own phone or a friend’s without leaving the page. “ViiF’s ease of use particularly impressed us. Without registering again, our users can now watch their favourite videos on a mobile phone as mobile television, while producers can promote their videos by phone within their community. It is an excellent additional service for us,” says UProm.TV Managing Director Nick Riegger.

Alongside their own collection of online clips, ViiF members can access a range of video channels on their phones, covering sport, music and current news. Partnerships with MTV, Reuters and ProSiebenSat.1 allow users to watch, forward and comment on short video clips by mobile phone.
