André Rieu will present classical music performances to large audiences on a total of 300 square metres of video wall. Screen Visions is integrating six current-generation LED walls from Lighthouse and Mitsubishi into the stage façade and carrying the musician’s and ensemble’s music and dance performances.
The Romantic Vienna Night tour, which began earlier in the year, uses a large-scale replica of Austria’s Schönbrunn Palace as its stage environment.
Screen Visions will install two 16:9 video walls, two portrait-format walls and two 4:3 walls inside the 35-metre-high, 120-metre-wide structure. The system uses Lighthouse R7 and Mitsubishi OD10 LED modules. Low weight is important because the largest wall in the set covers almost 100 square metres.
Resolution also matters on the smaller walls. The Lighthouse R7 has a visual pixel pitch of 7.8 millimetres. Each module weighs two kilograms, which also reduces the load imposed by the large set.
After concerts in Maastricht, Paris, Brussels, Berlin and Leipzig from June, Screen Visions will accompany the tour to Australia. Performances are scheduled for Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne in November 2008.
Roger Rinke, Managing Director of Screen Visions, said the company had worked with Rieu for more than five years. The Australian dates mark its first deployment there. The schedule requires the technical team to assemble and dismantle the system quickly, with around 400 LED modules across the six walls installed within one day.
