The Iomega REV 120GB backup drive is now available worldwide as an external USB 2.0 version and an internal model with a SATA interface, each priced at €399 excluding VAT. Every REV 120GB backup drive includes one REV 120GB disk and EMC’s award-winning Retrospect Express software for automatic backup and disaster recovery. Iomega also offers REV 120GB Server Kit models consisting of a REV 120GB drive, five REV 120GB disks and CA ARCserve Backup software with the Disaster Recovery Option.
“The launch of the REV 120GB backup drives sets new standards for cost-effective data backup in small and medium-sized businesses,” said Peter Wharton, Vice President of Marketing at Iomega Corporation. “REV 120GB provides greater native storage capacity, almost instantaneous random file access, faster backup and recovery, and the advantages of robust portable removable media, all at a better price-performance ratio than entry-level tape drives and with easier backup operation than standard desktop hard drives. Compared with pricing for the previous REV 70 generation, REV 120 offers 50 GB more capacity per disk in a storage device that costs around €80 less. REV 120 continues our technology leadership in a market where more than 350,000 REV drives and more than two million REV storage disks have already been installed. Our users can trust that their data is safely protected on a technology platform that has served them for more than four years and continues to evolve with their requirements.”
As part of its new pricing model for the REV product family, Iomega also announced a new, lower price for its second-generation Iomega REV 70GB backup drives. The USB 2.0, ATAPI and SATA versions of the REV 70GB backup drive now each have a retail price of €379 excluding VAT. Every REV 70GB drive is supplied with one REV 70GB disk and EMC’s award-winning Retrospect Express software for automatic backup and disaster recovery. Iomega also offers REV 70GB Server Kit models supplied with CA ARCserve backup software and the Disaster Recovery Option.
The new Iomega REV 120GB backup drive is backward-compatible for reading REV 70GB disks. A REV 120GB backup drive can therefore read REV 70GB storage media, providing users of REV 70GB drives with a clear migration path to the new REV 120GB technology and its storage media.
