Aviom Wins MIPA Award

Aviom’s Pro64 series wins the 2008 MIPA award for sound-system technology, while the company introduces the Pro64 6416m microphone-input module.

At Musikmesse/Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt, the Aviom Pro64 series was recently named the best sound-system technology of 2008. The award was presented by the Musikmesse International Press Association, whose membership includes more than 100 trade publications from around the world.

Accepting the MIPA Award, Aviom President and Managing Director Carl Bader noted how far the company had come in the seven years since the A-16II Personal Mixer first reached the drawing board. “Nearly seven years after we first began working on the mixer, it is very gratifying to be honored for our achievement in such a broad category,” Bader said.

During Prolight+Sound, Aviom officially introduced the new Pro64 6416m microphone-input module together with the RCI Remote Control Interface and MCS Mic Control Surface. “We are very pleased to present these products to the public for the first time, and it is simply wonderful how enthusiastically the devices have been received,” Bader added. “It is significant, however, that this award is not for any one product but for the technology itself. As users connect increasing numbers of devices digitally, it becomes more important for manufacturers to solve problems at the most fundamental system level. Good product design is crucial, and we are extremely proud of the sophistication of our design.”

The Pro64 series includes analog and digital input and output devices, a bidirectional interface card for Yamaha digital products, ten-port devices supporting bidirectional parallel connections, and an interface to the company’s established Pro16 products, including the A-16II Personal Mixer. “The aim was to develop modular products and give users the ability to create systems tailored to their applications. Pro64 A-Net is a true network in the sense that devices can be connected in any arrangement, combination, and physical topology without limiting the availability of audio signals,” Bader said. “Our design principle is that you should be able to connect it, switch it on, and have it work. That is what we are used to from analog technology. We should expect no less in the digital domain.”
