Interactive BenQ MD300 Mouse

BenQ introduces the interactive optical MD300 mouse with a slim design, notification sensors, and a music-driven dance mode.

Compared with other USB mice, the MD300 adds interactive sensor technology, instant notification of appointments and incoming messages, and a dance mode. BenQ positions these functions as making the desktop more entertaining. The black mouse will be available from specialist retailers at the end of May for a recommended retail price of €24.90 including VAT.

When the sensor function is enabled, the BenQ MD300 responds when the user moves, presses, or gently touches it. Mouse clicks and PC applications can trigger red visual effects, vibration, and sound.

Using the included software, users can choose to receive notifications of incoming emails or Skype messages from selected contacts. Contacts can be classified as positive or negative, with different combinations of visual effects, vibration, and sound identifying welcome or unwelcome senders. The MD300 also provides Outlook appointment reminders while the screen saver is active.

The dance mode makes the mouse move rhythmically to music from Microsoft Media Player. The included software supports Skype 2.0 or later, Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and 2007, and Microsoft Media Player 10.0 or later. Dimensions of 95 × 64 × 27.8 mm make the mouse suitable for carry-on luggage.
