Adobe used NAB to introduce its CinemaDNG file format. The new open format is intended to become an industry standard for exchanging cinema data.
The software manufacturer has already gained support from equipment makers including Panavision, Silicon Imaging, Dalsa, Weisscam, and ARRI.
Software companies including Iridas, The Foundry, and CineForm are also participating.
CinemaDNG is intended to allow digital film data to be processed without difficulty and to eliminate incompatibilities.
Adobe also intends the format to keep data accessible over many years, making it suitable for archival use.
