The organizers of the ORS roadshow were pleased with strong interest from retailers and communications-electronics specialists on 17 April 2008. The start of HDTV for Euro 2008 in Austria, the next digitization steps, encryption, new products and much more were central topics at the event, which attracted more than 300 guests.
ORS Managing Director Michael Wagenhofer informed the audience about the next steps for HDTV and DVB-T, as well as the introduction of DVB-H. ORF Technical Director Peter Moosmann discussed ORF’s plans for the new HDTV channel, which will launch in Austria on 2 June 2008 in parallel with the existing SD service.
Astra Managing Director Wolfgang Elsäßer already awarded Austria the title of European champion as the country with the highest percentage of satellite households. Cay Urbanek from the ORF Directorate General gave a clear overview of the Austrian television market.
Piet Bel of Irdeto emphasized the good cooperation among all partners involved in satellite television in Austria. Gerald Reitmayer, Samsung’s Head of Sales and Marketing for Austria, presented the latest market trends and the next generation of television sets.
