Sonic Solutions has acquired Simple Star, expanding Roxio’s consumer product line with a web community for multimedia applications and sharing services.
Simple Star’s PhotoShow software and online services allow consumers to create, publish and share multimedia projects. Its PhotoShow Developer Program provides APIs for integrating multimedia creation, playback and sharing tools into web services.
Sonic said the acquisition would extend Roxio from desktop products into online and cable offerings, combining PC, internet, digital television and mobile-device capabilities.
