Datacolor and BenQ Cooperate

Datacolor, a leader in color-management technology, has worked with BenQ to develop an ideal calibration solution for the new BenQ W5000 and W20000 home-cinema projectors: ColorFacts Calibration System for BenQ Projectors.

Professional calibration allows the projectors to exploit their full imaging potential. Datacolor and BenQ are offering training courses to equip specialist retailers with the necessary technology and expertise—a clear advantage in competition for customers. Raphael Vogt, audiovisual consultant, calibrator and editor at Video magazine, will lead the training. The courses also give retailers an opportunity to purchase the calibration equipment, BenQ projectors and high-end screens from AV distributor Medium at promotional prices. The registration deadline is 9 May.

ColorFacts Calibration System for BenQ Projectors is based on ColorFacts Professional 7.5, Datacolor’s recently revised calibration solution for AV professionals and retailers. The complete package includes the new Spyder3 colorimeter, currently the only device in its class with seven color detectors. Its 372-square-millimeter measurement aperture is many times larger than those of comparable devices and consequently enables significantly more precise results. ColorFacts Professional 7.5 software allows specialists to exploit the advantages of the new colorimeter fully and configure high-quality home-cinema systems even more precisely.

The BenQ W5000 and W20000 home-cinema projectors support Datacolor’s calibration technology by providing full access to the relevant parameters. They also offer two separate memory locations for each parameter, giving home-cinema owners two complete sets of settings. Ideal configurations for daylight and darkness can therefore be stored separately, and customers can switch conveniently between the two modes. Retailers using ColorFacts Calibration System for BenQ Projectors can consequently calibrate each unit twice.

The calibration equipment is supplied in a sturdy aluminum case, particularly practical for field service at customer locations. Thirty stickers showing the calibration date for application to configured projectors are included.
