PTPublisher from Primera Now Also Available in a Network Version

Following last week’s launch of the new PTPublisher software for fully automated copying and printing of optical media, Primera Technology has now introduced the updated PTPublisher NE network edition.

The software now lets a business or a company department share a single Disc Publisher II, Disc Publisher Pro, or XR-series duplication and printing system. Primera Managing Director Andreas Hoffmann cited various advantages of using only one system: “Costs and service effort are naturally much lower than if every individual computer has a burner. In addition, burn and print jobs for the entire network can be coordinated automatically and more effectively at one device and, if necessary, logged in an audit-proof manner.”

The network version of PTPublisher is especially suitable for companies or departments. Optical media are mainly used for long-term data backup or for creating professional corporate presentations. IT companies in particular also frequently distribute new versions of their software on CD, DVD, and, more recently, Blu-ray.

To benefit from the new PTPublisher NE software, the user must install a server license on the PC for each device intended to act as a network publisher. If several Primera devices are to be integrated into the network, such a server license must be purchased for each one. For €399, the PTPublisher NE software package includes an unlimited number of client licenses. “In terms of cost, this puts us at around half of what the direct competition charges for a server license with five clients,” Hoffmann reported.
