Joe and Ed include all functions of the previous six different editing toolsets and will replace them. The new editor duo shows its strengths particularly in current news production, thanks to tools and a user interface tailored to that purpose. Joe and Ed cover the complete range of tasks for editing news stories. All tools can be operated easily and quickly using Quantel’s award-winning user interface, ensuring a transparent workflow for SD and HD productions.

Joe is specifically intended for producing news stories in the newsroom. After familiarization, it can be operated easily by any operator and by the editor, allowing them to view, select, and edit footage at the desktop and place it in the running order for approval. Editing, linking stories with graphic elements and fonts, and monitoring functions are controlled through an intuitive user interface.

Ed, by contrast, is designed as an editing workstation for creative design and multilayer image processing, which can be generated quickly with the newly developed multi-layer timeline.

“Quantel recognized long ago that workflow in a networked digital newsroom is the key to success,” emphasized Trevor Francis, Quantel’s marketing manager for television. “Today’s television business requires all content to be prepared for repeated use and multimedia exploitation. Joe and Ed make this work considerably easier because every user can optimize their workflow with them.”
