Video compression specialist On2 Technologies has significantly improved the technology behind its VP6 video codec, used in Flash 8 and 9 as well as Flash Lite 3, and promises a quality gain of up to 40 percent.
At the same time, the resulting Flash movies remain compatible with the Flash Player decoder.
The improvements are available as a free upgrade for the On2 Flix suite, which includes encoding and publishing tools for Flash Video.
