Canadian pop star Celine Dion is bringing Screen Visions, the Stuttgart specialist in large-format video systems, aboard for the European open-air concerts of her world tour. At stops in Germany, Sweden, Poland and the Netherlands, the Stuttgart company will provide three high-resolution video walls at each venue.
The new Lighthouse R7 material will be used in 16:9 format. On the large 62-square-meter rear stage wall, comprising ten by eight modules, and on the two 34-square-meter side walls, each comprising seven by six modules, audiences will experience the artist’s charm, charisma and gifted voice in large format. Screen Visions is using new material with a visual pixel pitch of only seven millimeters. The complete HD camera technology comes from Solotech of Canada, which is also responsible for the projection surfaces at the indoor shows. “We coordinated closely with tour management in advance and contributed suggestions for saving tour costs,” says Screen Visions Managing Director Roger Rinke. “Because the actual show was planned as an indoor production using IMAX projection, LED video walls are required for the outdoor shows held in parts of Europe. These do not need to be flown in separately from overseas, however. Almost every type of LED material can now be sourced locally, saving high transportation costs.”
This year, Celine Dion returns to the international stage that she left almost five years ago. The most successful contemporary performer, with almost 180 million albums sold, is following her Las Vegas engagement with a new CD, Taking Chances, and a world tour encompassing 25 countries and more than 100 spectacular live performances. Dion will give seven concerts in Germany and Austria.
