QUBYX Software Technologies, a provider of medical-imaging and color-management products, is integrating Datacolor’s new Spyder3 colorimeter into its PerfectLum medical calibration software. This solution enables displays to be calibrated for compliance with medical standards such as DICOM. Displays calibrated in this way can be used for diagnosis and viewing medical images.

Datacolor Spyder3 is a high-quality colorimeter for accurately measuring the color and brightness values of displays and projectors. The new complete package combines the outstanding image-reproduction quality of QUBYX software with the high precision of the Spyder3 colorimeter, thereby meeting the demanding requirements of radiologists.

The PerfectLum solution also offers hardware calibration with DDC/CI communication, a scheduler, remote control, and lookup tables of up to 36 bits (three times 12 bits). Very precise measuring instruments capable of detecting the smallest differences in brightness and color are necessary to carry out accurate evaluations and meet the strict requirements of the medical field. In medicine, doctors and staff must be able to rely on optimal display quality that complies with the DICOM standard.

“The high-quality Datacolor measuring device combined with the quality of the QUBYX software solution creates an outstanding complete solution for medical imaging,” said QUBYX Director Marc Leppla.

“Datacolor is working with QUBYX to develop solutions for medical display calibration,” said Christoph Gamper, European General Manager of the Consumer Business Unit at Datacolor AG. “We are pleased with the strong collaboration and are confident that integrating Spyder3 into PerfectLum will open the way for our product into the medical-imaging market. PerfectLum is compatible with almost every graphics card and display and supports our goal of offering high-quality solutions at an affordable price.”
