Canadian children’s broadcaster Teletoon Canada Inc. and French broadcasters France 2 and Canal J are participating in the co-production. TV-Loonland holds full international distribution rights for all media, including licensing and merchandising.
Alongside JC Little and Cindy Filipenko, the project is being developed with emerging manga artist Svetlana Chmakova, whose comic book Dramacon became an international bestseller.
MY LIFE ME is an action-packed programme for children aged eight to twelve that introduces a new form of animation:
The series is animated entirely digitally and remains faithful to the aesthetic of manga books by adopting manga-style visual symbols and language. Black and white panels behind the characters, for example, are intended to express their suppressed feelings on screen. The approach provides a new visual form for storytelling and comedy.

The four principal characters in MY LIFE ME are constantly searching for the deeper meaning of their pre-teen lives, with all the problems and challenges they encounter on the way to adolescence.
The perceived lifestyle potential of MY LIFE ME both within and beyond the manga scene is expected to support a licensing and merchandising programme covering publishing products, accessories, gifts and textiles. An extensive online presence is also planned to support multimedia marketing of the licensed products. The website, then under development, was designed to let users create their own manga based on the television story. An interactive exchange was also planned. Website games were intended to address everyday situations and demonstrate approaches to resolving social conflicts.
In addition to the internet component, 26 shorts were planned to exploit digital media such as mobile phones and video-on-demand platforms. The series, shorts and website were scheduled for completion in autumn 2009.
