Haze was developed by shooter specialists Free Radical, creators of the highly acclaimed TimeSplitters series, and was released exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3. The game carries a recommended retail price of €69.95 and received the German USK rating “not approved for minors.” “We are delighted to infect the classic-shooter market with Haze and its Nectar-driven plot twists,” said John Parkes, EMEA Marketing Director at Ubisoft. “Players everywhere have been waiting for Haze, the next major shooter for PLAYSTATION 3, and we expect them to be completely satisfied with what the talented team at Free Radical has created.” About Haze: In 2048, governments have placed their military power in the hands of private military companies (PMCs). The player assumes the role of Shane Carpenter, a recently recruited soldier seeking thrills and fulfillment while fighting for a good cause. As the leading PMC, Mantel Global Industries provides not only the most advanced arsenal of vehicles and weapons, but also its crowning achievement: the performance-enhancing biomechanical substance Nectar. The conflict begins in a war-torn country where the player is deployed to fight an insurgent rebel group called “The Promise Hand.” At first glance, everything about the mission seems in order, but things quickly begin to turn strange… The player must uncover the truth, change sides and fight alongside former enemies in The Promise Hand against Mantel’s manipulative grip. Key features: Impeccable credentials: Free Radical, developer of the award-winning TimeSplitters series, and Ubisoft, publisher of Far Cry and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, have repeatedly demonstrated their talent for innovative, groundbreaking first-person shooters. Play on both sides of the war: The player develops from a ruthless, high-tech Mantel soldier into a cunning rebel of The Promise Hand, with each side offering its own gameplay, weapons and abilities. Experience the firepower of Mantel’s forces: The player is equipped with the most advanced gear and weapons and, with the help of Nectar—Mantel’s performance-enhancing substance developed for the battlefield—experiences the highs and lows of warfare. Nectar enables new abilities including Nectar Focus, Nectar Foresight and the Melee Booster. Bring the truth to light, switch sides and escape Mantel’s clutches: The player joins former enemies and leads them in battle against the Mantel army. The player exploits knowledge of former teammates’ weaknesses and uses new abilities including playing dead, stealing weapons and deploying the deadly Nectar grenade. Innovative game technology developed exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3: The Disparity Rendering System simulates the player’s changing perception under the influence of Nectar and without it. Haze also offers fluid gameplay without disruptive loading times between individual sections and the groundbreaking Conspire AI System, which enables dynamic enemy behavior—nothing is precomputed. State-of-the-art multiplayer modes: Straightforward access to online combat and a selection of online modes, including a standout cooperative mode for up to four players. Both Mantel soldiers and rebels can be played, revealing secrets from the single-player campaign.
