Against the impressive backdrop of Schlosshotel Fleesensee, 170 association members took a look at the near and distant future during their annual meeting. Two highly topical presentations—“DRUPA 2008: A Turning Point?” by Bernd Zipper of Zipcon Consulting and “Where Is Our Weather Heading?” by Sven Plöger of meteomedia and Wetter im Ersten—were equally thought-provoking for members.
Under the motto “The World Is Going Digital—We Are Facing a Revolution,” Bernd Zipper spoke about future changes in the printing industry, moving away from print alone toward networked communication. Zipper explained to the specialist audience the extent to which new technologies such as electronic paper, Web 2.0 and nanotechnology have already entered the printing sector and will change it sustainably. He concluded by referring to DRUPA 2008 and recommending that companies inform themselves at an early stage.
Sven Plöger then sensitized listeners to another future topic: climate change. Plöger explained the concept of climate and distinguished it from conspicuous weather events. He reassured the audience in the short term, but made the transformation, future warming and resulting changes clear. The good news is that everyone can do something about it. Plöger concluded with practical tips for everyday life.
At the members’ meeting of the North Printing and Media Association, the first deputy chairman and treasurer were confirmed in office.
Participants were then invited to an event of a very special kind. Association members, managing directors and employees tested their strength in an exciting dragon-boat race on Lake Fleesensee. After three races, the Draco Lithographicus team emerged victorious.
