“Sex and the City: The Movie” therefore jumped straight to number one in the media control cinema charts. Carrie’s long-term boyfriend Mr. Big (Chris Noth) also returns.
Michael Patrick King’s comedy displaced “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” from the top spot. Harrison Ford’s fourth adventure as Dr. Henry Jones Jr. drew 376,000 viewers to cinemas—700,000 fewer tickets than on its opening weekend.
“What Happens in Vegas” followed at a considerable distance in third place. Some 70,000 cinemagoers joined Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz in Las Vegas.
“The Eye” debuted in fourth place with 36,000 viewers. In the US remake of the Hong Kong psychological thriller of the same name, Sydney Wells sees dead people on their way to the afterlife following an eye operation. Jessica Alba, Parker Posey and Alessandro Nivola appeared before the cameras for directing duo David Moreau and Xavier Palud.
“Made of Honor” completed the top five with 28,000 cinemagoers.
