Masterclass at the MUNICH INTERNATIONAL short film festival
A special highlight of the MUNICH INTERNATIONAL short film festival is the masterclass at the weekend: this year the festival has been able to win Christopher Vogler as a speaker. Vogler is one of the most important screenwriters and teachers in Hollywood. The masterclass bears the same title as his recognised standard work: "The Writer's Journey". The seminar offers the unique opportunity to experience the renowned screenwriter and script developer in person. In his seminar, Christopher Vogler provides insights into the art of screenwriting. He will demonstrate techniques on how to develop the structure of the plot and the characters. Christopher Vogler has been significantly involved in many major international productions such as KÖNIG DER LÖWEN, THE WRESTLER, P.S. YOUR CAT IS DEAD! and TILL EULENSPIEGEL.
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday (19 and 20 June 2010 from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm) at the Gloria Palast. Registration at the early bird price of 150 euros is now possible online at www.muc-intl.de, where you will also find a detailed description of the seminar.

26th International Short Film Festival Hamburg
The International Short Film Festival Hamburg is one of the world's most important and successful short-film festivals for the industry and public. From June 1 to 7, around 300 excellent short films from around the world will be shown in the various competitions (International Competition, NoBudget, German Competition, Hamburg Short Film Night and Flotter Dreier) and special programmes (country focus Thailand, Searching and Finding: The Meaning of Life, Thunder & Roar: The Motor Programme, Dirty Diaries and others).
Alongside short films in cinemas, the festival offers other exciting events such as two open-air screenings on a parking deck, a tour through the St. Georg district with mobile projectors, various workshops and seminars for filmmakers, and the legendary party nights in the festival club.
The 12th Mo&Friese Children's Short Film Festival takes place at the same time.

KUK Film Produces 3D Production for BBC
The first 3D pilot film by the BBC Natural History Unit was made together with the 3D experts at KUK Filmproduktion GmbH, Munich. The exterior and studio recordings took place in Bristol, while 3D postproduction was carried out at KUK Film in Munich. The film has now been presented for the first time at NAB in Las Vegas.
FFF Bayern Funds Games about Stunde Null and Bernd das Brot
The Games Allocation Committee has decided: with a total of EUR 197,000, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern is funding five different computer games, from a historical adventure set in post-war Germany and a serious game with a multicultural learning approach to the first game featuring the cult character Bernd das Brot.

13th International Commercial Film Festival spotlight
Commercial films as a full evening programme – is that possible? Since 1998, spotlight, the largest commercial-film festival in the German-speaking world, has demonstrated just how well it works. Its thirteenth edition takes place at Mannheim's Rosengarten for the first time on March 5, 2010. On the competition reel: a best-of selection from the current commercial-film year.
By dividing the festival into the spotlight main competition and spotlight STUDENTS competition, it covers both professional spots already broadcast in film and television and the so-called ‘spec spots’ – student works normally never seen outside film schools. A stimulating comparison that often makes professional advertising agencies look rather old... Alongside classic spots, the competition also features new forms of advertising for use on the internet or mobile phones. With enormously clever ‘virals’, small video clips for distribution online, this particularly innovative category ranked very highly with the expert jury and the public last year.
