There is a little Steven Spielberg in every one of us, isn’t there? Anyone still missing the right equipment to launch a filmmaking career or produce a high-quality holiday video should not miss SANYO’s summer participation campaign.
The camera manufacturer is organizing a film competition in which successful applicants will receive high-quality Xacti HD1000 and Xacti CA8 camcorders for their films. The special attraction: the best clips will be shown at Photokina, and the amateur directors can keep their cameras.
It is easy to take part. At http://www.dreh-dein-ding.de, video enthusiasts apply for a test camera and explain why they will make the best and most imaginative short film. Ten applicants will then receive an Xacti CA8 or Xacti HD1000. The best clips shot with these camcorders will be shown not only at Photokina but also at http://www.dreh-dein-ding.de. Applications close on 1 July, and completed productions must reach SANYO by 1 September.

Creativity in the films has no limits. The aim is to capture the summer while making the best possible use of the many functions and advantages offered by the two cameras. HD1000 scenes should bring out the brilliance and depth of detail of the HD format and its excellent resolution. CA8 testers should shoot videos under the theme Sport, Fun and Action, showing the cameras in extreme situations, for example, where they can demonstrate their strengths of water resistance, small size and low weight. Individual clips should be no longer than three minutes. Testers submit their completed, edited reports as vodcast contributions.
SANYO is seeking a total of ten test filmmakers who want to try one of the two cameras and make films with it. The challenge is to adapt the filmmaking ideas to the relevant camera type. The HD1000 is one of the smallest and lightest Full HD camcorders and offers excellent possibilities for producing an aesthetically appealing short film. The lightweight unit delivers pin-sharp images, faithful colors and good recordings even in low light.
It can be used to realize many different and sophisticated ideas. The Xacti CA8, by contrast, is a genuine all-rounder. Whether climbing in high mountains, mountain biking or rafting, building sandcastles at the beach or visiting a skate park, the robust waterproof camcorder offers outdoor and sports enthusiasts countless possibilities for realizing filmmaking ideas and producing exciting clips. The CA8’s five-times optical zoom combined with excellent image quality is another advantage.
