The new outside-broadcast truck is expected to be used for the first time in July.
With their outstanding image quality and Full HD resolution, the BVM flat-panel monitors are particularly suitable for mastering and final quality control. Three will be used in the main control room of the new OB truck and two in the secondary control room. The remaining selection of production monitors includes the complete LMD line-up: 20 17-inch models, only just unveiled at NAB, 23 20-inch models, 31 24-inch models and four large 42-inch displays guarantee an excellent overview throughout the entire TV production.
The OB truck, designed as a semi-trailer with triple extensions, also contains the Sony MVS-8000G vision mixer. A large installation with three control panels makes it highly flexible, enabling it to fulfil every task required of the truck’s central control hub for SIVision’s predominantly HD production. Its multiformat design also makes it backward-compatible, allowing SD productions to be carried out when required. Also on board are 14 Sony BVM-A14F5M CRT monitors and ten Sony fibre-triax converters for connecting the system cameras.
“Before investing in our own equipment for HD production, our attention naturally returned to Sony, whose products we have used for many years. Alongside the excellent quality of the various new monitors and Sony’s experience in HD technology, straightforward service and good support also played an important role in our purchasing decision,” said Imre Sereg, managing director and founder of SIVision.
As a dedicated HD specialist, SIVision plans to use the OB truck for HD production almost exclusively. SIVision’s content focus is on broadcasting international concerts and major events such as the Red Bull Air Race.
