This year, the most important European award in the DCC industry is being introduced in Switzerland and the competition announced. The first awards ceremony takes place in 2009 at the “Festival international du film fantastique de Neuchâtel”.
To introduce the award to Swiss creatives, an information evening will take place on Wednesday, July 2, at 20:00. As part of the “Imaging the Future Symposium” in Neuchâtel, DP editor-in-chief Matthias J. Lange and numerous artists will present the highlights of the animago AWARD 2007. Beforehand, there will be opening cocktails from 18:30. Participants include John Howe (conceptual designer of “Lord of the Rings”), Christian Scheurer (conceptual designer of “Superman returns” and “Matrix”) and Syd Mead (“Blade Runner”, “Tron”). Guests in previous years have included zombie director George R. Romero and directing guru Terry Gilliam.
The “Imaging the Future Symposium” is part of the “Festival international du film fantastique de Neuchâtel”. The conference looks at the design and use of digital images and offers demonstrations and conferences with directors, designers, and special-effects and game developers. Participants in the animago AWARD Switzerland automatically also enter the existing animago AWARD, giving them twice the chance of winning one of the coveted trophies.
