The iPhone 3G is available in the following 21 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States—and will also go on sale in France from July 17.
“iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend,” says Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “It took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones … iPhone 3G has really had a tremendous worldwide launch!”
The new iPhone 3G combines all the revolutionary features of the iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast*, built-in GPS for expanded location-based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software with support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. The iPhone 2.0 software also provides access to the App Store, where more than 800 third-party applications are already available.
