Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY) and the global market leader in mobile messaging services, is now helping the international news agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) deliver current news to users of Sybase 365™ AvantGo®.

With this latest partnership, Sybase 365 continues its strategy of giving users unrestricted access to content while allowing them to choose freely when and what type of content they retrieve. Its collaboration with AFP, the world’s oldest international news agency, makes it possible to deliver global news to any mobile device at no additional cost to the end user.

“Mobile devices undoubtedly play an increasingly important role in keeping people up to date with news, information and other people,” says Gilles Tarot, Marketing Director at AFP North America. “It was therefore only logical for us to give readers unlimited access to our worldwide news through whichever channel they prefer—whether in print, online or on mobile devices via AvantGo.”

“The growing distribution of news content through AvantGo is a classic win-win situation: consumers can choose from a wider range of content, while content providers expand the reach of their distribution channel,” explains Michael Kurtzman, Managing Director Mobile Advertising at Sybase 365. “For additional flexibility, AFP content can be accessed through either a browser or a download client. This allows users to read it online or offline whenever they wish.”

Sybase 365 AvantGo provides media-content partners and advertisers with a ready-to-use, advertising-funded mobile content-delivery solution that removes the need to build an expensive mobile audience or advertising network. This gives advertising professionals access to a highly attractive audience of mobile users. With a portfolio of more than 800 media sources ranging from specialist hobby magazines and blogs to breaking news, AvantGo has established itself as the largest provider of web content for mobile devices.
