MainConcept GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of DivX, Inc. and one of the world’s leading providers of audio and video codecs and software development kits (SDKs) for the broadcast, film, and consumer markets, is taking the next step in its cross-platform strategy with the new Mac/Intel version of its Reference 1.5 encoding software.

The successor to the industry-established MainConcept Mac Encoder Software provides fast and straightforward conversion among multiple video formats—including H.264/AVC, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 Part 2, VC-1, DVCPRO HD, JPEG2000, AAC, HE-AAC, and Dolby Digital—in the familiar MainConcept quality. Professionals and end users alike benefit from a range of preconfigured profiles that reduce the complex transcoding process to a single mouse click. These presets support conversion for formats including Blu-ray, Adobe Flash, DVD, Sony PSP, Apple iPod, AVCHD, XDCAM EX, and XDCAM HD.

Reference 1.5 can export uncompressed RAW/YUV files and supports WMV and Adobe Flash-compatible F4V files for delivering video content through AVC/H.264 live streaming with Adobe Flash Media Server 3. MainConcept Reference also provides conversion to MPEG-4 Part 2 and H.263, including MPEG-4 presets for Apple iPod, Sony PSP, and other mobile devices. Additional features such as batch encoding, a Watch Folder function, and logo blending improve the post-production workflow.
