With the heroic family around Brendan Fraser, the charming humor of the “Mummy” universe returns. Director Rob Cohen (Dragonheart, The Fast and the Furious, xXx) brings exciting new elements—from overwhelmingly powerful enemies and spectacular locations to a somewhat tougher style of action. The film opens on August 7, 2008.
A young man wearing a brown shearling-lined jacket and a green shirt stands at an old, wooden structure. Flurries of snow fall around him, creating a chilly atmosphere as he gazes thoughtfully into the distance.

Several years have passed, the Second World War has just ended, and one final mission for the British government takes archaeologist couple Rick (Fraser) and Evelyn O’Connell (Maria Bello) to Shanghai and into the middle of a political

conspiracy. At the same time, their now-adult son Alex (Luke Ford), also excavating in China, discovers the tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

According to legend, the fearsome ruler and his army were cursed by a sorceress more than 2,000

years ago and turned into terracotta. They are apparently to be awakened again to reconquer China, and only the O’Connells and Alex’s uncle Jonathan (John Hannah) stand between the Dragon Emperor and a new age of terror.

Chases, avalanches, crash landings, treks through the Himalayas, three-headed dragons, gigantic battles and gripping martial-arts duels with Jet Li as a shapeshifter—a magnificent big-screen adventure with spectacular

visuals, hard-hitting action and casual humor. Following the intoxicating success of the two predecessors directed by Stephen Sommers, which grossed almost $850 million at the box office, a new mummy is now being awakened.
