Digital or analog? HD or SD? In the media industry, these central questions of film production can be answered only with the necessary specialist knowledge. The 200 participants from the film and television industry at the sixth Hands on HD event are now prepared for production in high definition. Anyone who wants to succeed in film must understand the digital-film world. High-definition technology is becoming established as a production and broadcast standard in cinema, television and commercial-film production.
Forty-one German and European experts and an exclusive range of technical equipment made the workshop and conference event unique worldwide.
For seven days, workshop participants in camera and postproduction attended practical exercises and lectures. Directors and producers received a detailed introduction to high definition in a two-day seminar.
With support from around 50 sponsors and cooperation partners, more than 50 current- and next-generation HD cameras and 25 editing systems were available, including the brand-new Sony F35, the new RED ONE and the ARRI D-21. Participants thus had the rare opportunity to become familiar with almost every camera system on the market.
Alongside intensive training in technology and workflows, Hands on HD aims to communicate the processes of change taking place throughout the film and television production industry. Organizers Band Pro Munich and nordmedia will invite the industry back to Hanover for Hands on HD next year.
