Shortly before IBC begins in September, Berlin pro-audio specialist STAGETEC is introducing two new modules for its NEXUS STAR large-scale audio router.
RMF 02 with two connection types and integrated level adjustment
The new RMF 02 module is a MADI card equipped at the factory with both BNC connectors and slots for optical SFP modules. Depending on requirements, either the copper or optical connection can be used without needing a second card. A broad selection of SFP modules is available, including single-mode, multimode and CWDM (optical wavelength multiplexing). The inputs automatically detect the number and formats of incoming channels. Outputs can be set to the desired channel count—56 or 64 channels at 48 kHz, and 28 or 32 channels at 96 kHz. At 96 kHz, legacy and double-frequency output formats are available.
As an additional convenience feature alongside the connection options, the RMF 02 module includes an integrated signal processor for level adjustment. This allows fast and convenient level adjustment directly in the NEXUS system for up to 4 × 64 inputs and 4 × 64 outputs.
When used in NEXUS STAR routers equipped with the integrated RCX CPU/multiplexer module, RMF 02 supports the NEXUS STAR concept of complete redundancy, with a redundant RCX module and redundant backplane bus system.
The RMF 02 module has been available since mid-July and will be shown at IBC.
RSYNC: Integrated synchronization with HDTV support
The new RSYNC synchronization module is likewise aimed at users of the RCX module in NEXUS STAR. Its task is to synchronize the entire audio network to various synchronization sources. Unlike the previous solution, in which video and word-clock synchronization were integrated into the RCPU processor card, users now have a dedicated integrated synchronization module. Most importantly, in addition to the previously supported balanced and unbalanced AES reference signals and PAL and NTSC, RSYNC now supports synchronization to common HDTV trilevel signals. Only word-clock synchronization remains on the processor card, as in previous systems—formerly RCPU, now RCX. However, because the RSYNC card has AES and word-clock outputs and distributes the synchronization clock across the network, it can simultaneously serve as a word-clock distributor and converter.
The new RSYNC module will be presented at IBC Amsterdam and will go on sale at the same time.
