iPod touch, available immediately from €219 including VAT for the 8GB model, is ideal not only for playing music and video but also for gaming—millions of songs, thousands of videos and hundreds of games are available from the iTunes Store.

“No iPod is more fun than the new iPod touch,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Users can listen to millions of songs, watch thousands of videos and download hundreds of great games from the App Store to their iPod touch.”

The new iPod touch is thinner and lighter than the first generation. Its extremely slim new design features a metal-framed enclosure with integrated volume controls and a brilliant 3.5-inch widescreen glass display. Rounded corners, a flush display and a more compact design make the new iPod touch even more comfortable to hold and carry.

iPod touch users can choose from hundreds of game titles, including Spore Origins and Scrabble from Electronic Arts and Real Football 2009 from Gameloft, downloading them through iTunes or directly through the App Store application on iPod touch. The App Store works over Wi-Fi and lets users browse, purchase and wirelessly download applications directly to iPod touch for immediate use. It offers an extraordinary range of applications across categories including games, travel, entertainment, social networking and sports.

A fully charged iPod touch provides up to 36 hours of music playback or six hours of video. The 32GB model holds up to 7,000 songs, 25,000 photos or 40 hours of video; the 16GB model up to 3,500 songs, 20,000 photos or 20 hours of video; and the 8GB model up to 1,750 songs, 10,000 photos or 10 hours of video.*

The new iPod touch works with the new iTunes 8 Genius feature, allowing users to create playlists automatically while on the move. Users can preview Genius suggestions, request different songs or save Genius playlists for later listening.

Built-in Nike+ iPod support makes the new iPod touch an ideal workout companion. Users can place the optional Nike+ iPod Sensor (€19 including VAT) in a Nike+ shoe and connect wirelessly to the new iPod touch to measure distance traveled or synchronize the latest training aids.

The iPod is the most successful family of digital music players, with more than 160 million sold. Apple’s new iPod line includes the iPod shuffle in four vibrant new colors from €45; the slimline 120GB iPod classic with 50 percent more capacity at the same €239 price; the fourth-generation iPod nano in nine vibrant colors from €149; and the second-generation iPod touch from €219. Owners can choose from more than 5,000 accessories designed for iPod, including cases, fitness accessories, speaker systems and car connections.
