The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, held from 5 to 10 May 2009, is inviting competition entries. Films produced after 1 October 2007 can be submitted to the International Competition, Young Animation international student-film competition, Tricks for Kids international children’s-film competition, AniMovie international feature-film competition, Animated Series international television-series competition, and Under Commission international commissioned-film competition.
Across six competition categories, the festival will award prizes totalling more than €52,500. Submission deadlines are 1 December 2008 for the International Competition, Young Animation, Tricks for Kids, AniMovie and Animated Series categories, and 15 January 2009 for Under Commission and the German Animation Screenplay Award.

Another extensive supporting programme is planned for 2009. It includes the Animation Production Day industry meeting, organised jointly with FMX and in cooperation with Michael Schmetz Mediaconsult, as well as the Animation Coproduction Forum Eastern Europe in cooperation with the Robert Bosch Stiftung.
The organisers see the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film developing into “the world’s most important event and networking platform for animated film”. They describe the festival as an ideal forum for filmmakers and producers to present their work to a broad audience.
