Sonnet Technologies, a leading provider of professional storage solutions for users of Macintosh, Windows and Unix systems in the film, video and broadcast industries, is offering notebook users a two-port adapter card with maximum bandwidth in the form of the Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34.
With data-transfer rates of up to 200 MB/sec., the new Tempo SATA card is 140 percent faster than conventional notebook cards. This makes it ideal for video editing and post-production on location, in the studio and in the office. Its high bandwidth enables the Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 to play multiple video streams simultaneously and provides faster data transfer.
“On-location editing is becoming increasingly common in professional video. High-performance storage systems with sufficient speed are therefore needed directly at the shooting location to process larger files or several video streams at once,” explains Robert Farnsworth, CEO of Sonnet Technologies. “The Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 meets this demand and sets new standards for adapter cards used with mobile storage systems.”
The new Sonnet card provides access to as many as ten hard drives from any compatible notebook with an ExpressCard/34 or ExpressCard/54 slot. The Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 offers particular advantages when combined with storage systems that access multiple drives, because its transfer speed is considerably higher than FireWire, USB and even older eSATA cards.
Compatibility:
• Mac OS 10.5 and 10.4
• Windows Vista
• Windows XP SP2
The Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34 will be available from October 2008 at a recommended retail price of €245 including VAT.
