Adobe Systems today announced Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, a complete solution for creative professionals producing video, audio and interactive content for the web, mobile devices and television broadcast. The new Creative Suite 4 Production Premium includes new, fully integrated versions of Adobe’s video, audio, web and design solutions: Adobe After Effects CS4 Professional, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, Adobe Encore CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Flash CS4 Professional, Adobe Soundbooth CS4 and Adobe OnLocation CS4. OnLocation now provides native support for Intel-based Macs.
“With Creative Suite 4 Production Premium’s new tools for creating searchable video content, we are opening up unprecedented possibilities for media professionals,” says John Loiacono, Vice President of Creative Solutions at Adobe. “Users can not only create and distribute sophisticated content online, but can also use embedded metadata, for example, to place targeted rich-media advertising. These capabilities create a new paradigm in interactive media because content can now be distributed, differentiated and marketed in a completely different way.”
Fast creation of content for online distribution
Creative Suite 4 Production Premium offers a range of new functions for professional production. The new Speech Search in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Adobe Soundbooth CS4, for example, allows videos to be searched for spoken words, significantly accelerating the search for a particular scene and rough editing. Content remains searchable after it has been published on the web. XMP metadata support simplifies workflow. Users benefit from new interaction and search options in video, while providers can better track and market the use of their content. Adobe After Effects CS4 is also better aligned with workflows created in Adobe Flash CS4, giving users still more possibilities for creating sophisticated interactive content.
Efficient workflow—from camera directly to disk
With the new Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, Adobe improves its support for efficient, tapeless, cross-platform workflows, especially for film and broadcast production. Editors can work with formats such as RED, P2, XDCAM and AVCHD without first transcoding or converting the data. This makes it possible to determine and check very quickly, without loss of fidelity, what the camera actually recorded. Adobe OnLocation CS4 enables DV, HDV and DVCPROHD footage to be recorded directly to hard disk, and annotations and metadata to be created and changed directly in the recorded clip. The material can then be edited seamlessly in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Creative Suite 4 can output content for large and small screens, film, DVD, web DVD, Blu-ray Disc, the web and mobile devices.
Creative Suite 4 expands the creative workflow
The Adobe Creative Suite family—which includes the Adobe Creative Suite Design editions, Adobe Creative Suite Web editions, Adobe Creative Suite Production Premium and Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection—gives creative professionals and developers access to online services for interactive collaboration. Adobe ConnectNow, the web-conferencing solution included with Acrobat.com, can be accessed from InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4, Photoshop CS4 Extended, Flash CS4 Professional, Dreamweaver CS4, Fireworks CS4 and Acrobat 9 Pro for real-time collaboration with up to two colleagues or customers. Adobe Kuler allows designers to share colour combinations online, and can now be accessed directly from InDesign CS4, Illustrator CS4, Photoshop CS4, Flash CS4 Professional and Fireworks CS4. Other online services include Adobe Community Help for technical questions; Resource Central for access to news and tutorials about video and audio products, as well as music, sound effects and other media assets for Soundbooth; and Adobe Bridge Home, a source of tips, tutorials, news and creative content. Adobe Device Central CS4 provides a continuously updated searchable library of more than 450 device profiles from leading manufacturers, allowing users to test mobile content created with CS4 solutions quickly and easily.
