Fascinating design, the latest inorganic 3LCD panel technology and simple operation are now available at even lower prices. Sony is reducing recommended retail prices for end customers and recommended dealer purchase prices for its current E Series by as much as eleven per cent. The XGA VPL-EX5, featuring 2,000 ANSI lumens, now offers particularly attractive value for money and is available immediately for only €470, Sony’s recommended price excluding VAT. With higher light output of 2,500 ANSI lumens, the VPL-EX50 is now available for €580 excluding VAT. The WXGA VPL-EW5 is priced at €750 excluding VAT. Sony is targeting customers who need flexible, mobile presentation solutions in business or training environments. An additional highlight: end customers purchasing one of the three models by 31 December 2008 can extend the included three-year PrimeSupport package to five years free of charge by 31 March 2009.
Sony is the first projector manufacturer to use inorganic panels. Its internally developed BrightEraTM panel technology has been used in high-end models for demanding design applications for around a year. Since the current E Series went on sale, mainstream all-round-projector customers have also been able to benefit. Inorganic panels increase light flow, strengthening projection brightness, while black levels and contrast are higher than on conventional 3LCD devices. Another advantage is their longer service life, because the panels absorb less damaging ultraviolet radiation. Filters on E Series projectors need replacement only every 3,000 hours, keeping maintenance and operating costs pleasingly low.
Overall, the devices make presenting especially simple. Thanks to Quick Start, the projected image appears on the screen within four seconds. Automatic keystone correction and a preset eight-degree tilt handle the most important adjustments in advance, eliminating cumbersome manual correction.
Exhaust air leaves through the front of the device and therefore does not disturb the audience. The Off&Go function is highly useful in everyday presentation work: after the projector is disconnected from the mains, the fan continues cooling the lamp. Users therefore do not need to wait for the cooling cycle to finish and can disconnect the device immediately and carry it in the supplied bag.
End customers purchasing a VPL-EX5, VPL-EX50 or VPL-EW5 by 31 December 2008 can extend the included three-year PrimeSupport package to five years. They must register the device by 31 March 2009. If service is required, the customer will then receive a repair or comparable replacement projector on the next working day.
