Armin Laschet, North Rhine-Westphalia’s Minister for Generations, Family, Women and Integration, is becoming patron of the Parents’ LAN and invites interested parents and teachers to Cologne’s Tanzbrunnen from 4 p.m. on 10 October.
The Parents’ LAN is an initiative of the Electronic Sports League (ESL), Europe’s largest electronic-sports league, in cooperation with Spieleratgeber-NRW of ComputerProjekt Köln, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, the Federal Agency for Civic Education and GameParents.de e.V. The event aims to make it easier for parents and teachers to enter their children’s and pupils’ media world under educational guidance. After trying prominent games, participants will be able to discuss their impressions.
“Computer games have become almost impossible to imagine outside our children’s leisure time. It is therefore especially important for parents and teachers to understand precisely both the risks and the opportunities concealed within children’s computer games,” said North Rhine-Westphalia Minister for Children and Youth Armin Laschet, who has become patron of the Parents’ LAN. “The Parents’ LAN gives parents and teachers the opportunity to learn how to use this medium responsibly and to reduce uncertainty about computer games through conversations with trained educators.”
