A premiere will take place next week at the Faculty of Design of Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Sciences Nuremberg: the first Designers’ Night on Friday, 17 October 2008.
A project group of students organised it together with Professor Burkard Vetter and DesignVerein. A wealth of creative student work will be on display, and one piece will receive the Designers’ Night Award—another first.
Designers’ Night begins at 5 p.m. in the foyer of the Faculty of Design at Wassertorstrasse 10. Guests can expect a wide range of activities:
Exhibition by all students
Under the slogan “We Show It to Each Other,” every student at the Faculty of Design will present one piece of their own work. Everything is represented, from first-semester students to those about to graduate, from photography to developing corporate designs for companies, and from individual projects to work produced by project groups.
Designers’ Night Award
The presentation of the first Designers’ Night Award for the best work in the exhibition is eagerly awaited. The award is presented by DesignVerein, the alumni network, and is worth the equivalent of one semester’s tuition fee. The jury consists of DesignVerein members. “With so many good and award-worthy works, the jury will certainly not have an easy task,” said Professor Burkard Vetter. “But we are already very excited to see who receives the award.”
Photoshop Contest
The large Designers’ Night Photoshop Contest promises plenty of fun and unusual images. Various creative teams will compete against one another on laptops, while the audience can follow the action live via projector. The objective is not really perfect mastery of the software, but rather a willingness to join in the fun. The winners will at least receive free drinks for the rest of the evening.
Party
Another highlight of Designers’ Night is the closing party. Organised and designed by ELECTROPASTETE, it will “definitely be 100 per cent original, handmade, loud, wet and very, very long.” The new student room on the third floor will also be inaugurated at the same time. “We hope as many friends and interested guests as possible will come,” said Professor Vetter. “It is a great opportunity to meet, make contact with professors and students, and above all celebrate together!”
