In his presentation, Fredrik Kammer discusses his approach to lighting a scene. Using examples, he shows when a scene is well lit and why a beautifully designed image is not always a good cinematic image. The focus is not on the technical aspect, but on the work that takes place—or should take place—beforehand: thinking through a scene from a dramatic perspective.
Fredrik Kammer qualified as an advertising photographer in 1995 and worked as a photographer for another three years before studying film design at the Lazi Academy in Esslingen/Stuttgart, specialising in cinematography. Since 2002, he has lit CGI feature films at Ambient Entertainment, including Impy’s Wonderland. From 2006, he also contributed his experience as a concept developer, designer, lighting and rendering TD, and cinematographer to various advertising productions as a freelancer.
