At the Tonmeistertagung in Leipzig (November 13–16, 2008), Heilbronn-based audio specialist beyerdynamic is introducing two new small-diaphragm condenser models from the MC 900 series.

In addition to the proven MC 930 with cardioid polar pattern, the series is being expanded with the omnidirectional MC 910 and supercardioid MC 950. Designed as first-class tools for studio and stage, the MC 900-series models are the right choice for every application in which high-quality recording or transmission of acoustic signals is essential. The MC 900 microphones are especially suitable for natural reproduction of choirs, orchestras—as main microphones in various stereo arrangements or as spot microphones—solo instruments, and theater stages, for example.

All MC 900-series models stand out through their high open-circuit sensitivity and broad, balanced frequency response without narrow-band resonant peaks. A modular interchangeable-capsule system was deliberately avoided in the interests of robustness. Switchable -15 dB pre-attenuation makes them ideally suited to very high sound-pressure levels of up to 140 dB. Switchable low-frequency attenuation of 6 dB per octave below 250 Hz compensates for proximity effect on the two directional microphones. Like the MC 930, the MC 910 and MC 950 operate with 11–52 V phantom power and can therefore be used with almost any microphone preamplifier.
