From late May to early July 2008, Buchbinder Emotional Engineering, Microsoft, Media Markt and Codemasters, one of Europe’s leading developers and publishers of PC and video games, organised an unusual competition. Under the slogan “Win the Race of Your Life!”, they searched throughout Germany for the Race Driver: GRID champion who would take part in the Porsche Sports Cup.
At the beginning of October, the two winners were able to experience real motor racing at the Hockenheimring. Silvio Foth emerged as the best virtual driver in the under-18 category of the competition, which was held in more than 80 Media Markt electronics stores. Sebastian Schuhmacher took first place among the adult players. The two virtual racers prevailed over thousands of competitors and received a unique prize: a ride in a 500-horsepower Porsche 911 GT3 Cup at the Hockenheimring.
Race Driver: GRID is available for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. A playable Race Driver: GRID demo featuring two online multiplayer events is available to download from Xbox Live Marketplace, PlayStation Network, or for PC at http://www.racedrivergrid.com.
