One Date for Two Games Trade Shows

The new Gamescom computer-games trade show is bringing forward its Cologne premiere. Instead of taking place in September as planned, the show will now run from 19 to 23 August—the same dates as the Games Convention planned in Leipzig.

“Gamescom belongs to the entire industry and should enjoy the broadest possible acceptance. We have therefore taken very seriously the reservations voiced in recent weeks by retailers and several companies about a September date,” said Klemens Kundratitz, spokesman of the board of German interactive entertainment software association BIU, in a press release.

Leipziger Messe, organiser of the successful Games Convention for many years, intends to hold the games trade show in Leipzig next year even without the BIU.
