Since 1997, the animago AWARD has brought together everyone involved in digital content creation: emerging talent and professionals, creative artists and prospective clients, industry and art use the event as a meeting place and platform for computer-animated productions. Covering still images, films and interactive work, the animago AWARD represents every facet of the industry. The 2008 ceremony takes place during the digital creation days in Karlsruhe on 12 November and will be streamed live at 8:15 p.m. at http://www.animago.com/publikumspreis. Creative work in post-production and visualization will be honored in ten categories. More than 10,000 animations for film, television and commercials, as well as short films and industrial productions, were submitted from over 40 countries.
As a long-standing participant and one of the market leaders in 3D visualization, animation, visual effects and post-production, MACKEVISION wants to provide lasting support for the award. Its sponsorship promotes the event’s community ethos and its role as a meeting place for highly qualified professionals, including Photoshop and Nuke artists, 3D specialists, scripters and programmers, and tracking and matchmoving specialists.
MACKEVISION, itself an animago winner and competing in 2008 with two automotive product films—Dodge Journey and Mercedes SLR—is also interested in professional emerging talent. The reason is the continuing 3D boom. “In visualization, simulation, animation and gaming, 3D will play an even greater role in determining how people work, develop, experience and interact,” explains MACKEVISION Managing Director Armin Pohl. “Virtually no story is now realized without digital effects, whether in cinema, television or commercials.”
“Applications for 3D visualization and animation can now be found in almost every industry and sector,” Pohl continues.
