The festival was launched during the Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia on 4 October 2008. Entrants can submit fictional trailers for nonexistent films. The prize is provided by Canal+, and the winner will receive equipment worth EUR 30,000 to produce their own short film.
Outside the competition, Teaserland.com also shows fake teasers by filmmakers including Jaume Balagueró, Paco Plaza, Isabel Coixet, Enrique Urbizu, J. A. Bayona, and José Corbacho and Juan Cruz. Fake teasers by Ángel Sala, Hernán Migoya, Koldo Serra, Daniel Monzón, Eduardo Chapero-Jackson, Jaime Rosales and Raúl García will also appear on the website in the coming days.
In January 2009, the winner will be selected by a jury comprising film director Jaume Balagueró, film critic Mirito Torreiro, film journalist Gregorio Belinchón, producer Esther García, Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia director Ángel Sala, and Manel Vicaría of Vas a ver.
