lucie_p Produces TV Commercial for Garmin

Renowned Munich automotive film-production company lucie_p produced a TV commercial for the Garmin nüvi on behalf of Munich advertising agency Macron, which was responsible for the overall account.

The 25-second commercial is part of the integrated Christmas campaign for Garmin, the global market leader in mobile navigation. It will air from 3 November to 31 December 2008 on RTL, VOX, n-tv, ProSieben, Sat.1, kabel eins, N24, RTL II and DSF, and is intended to build awareness as part of Garmin’s image campaign while supporting Christmas sales.

The commercial initially shows a rainy city on a gray November day from a driver’s perspective. Using PhotoNavigation, the driver’s navigation system offers a selection of tempting destinations, prompting a journey to the Matterhorn that ends there in perfect sunshine.

The lucie_p team shot the film in Munich, at Spitzingsee and in Zermatt. The particular challenge for the experienced production company was the short time available to capture different weather conditions. In a single day, the team filmed scenes in rainy Munich and then in bright sunshine at Spitzingsee. It had to choose the right moments to capture these conditions for real instead of creating them later in post-production.

“lucie_p supported us very professionally on this assignment and, in addition to the expertise required for an appropriate execution, supplied valuable creative ideas,” says Peter Hatz, Managing Director of the responsible advertising agency Macron. “The TV commercial integrates superbly into Garmin Germany’s new national campaign.”

“We are delighted to have been entrusted with this project and to have completed it successfully within the specified timeframe,” says lucie_p Managing Director Tina Maria Werner. “The team did a great job and was ultimately rewarded with the right weather.”

Tina Maria Werner’s team was supported by director Niko Jäger and production manager Aleks Avramovic. The client and agency responsible for the creative work was Munich-based Macron, represented by Managing Director Peter Hatz and Creative Directors Jan Kühnemann and Ulf Schwab.
