Seagate Technology, the market leader in storage solutions, presents the Maxtor Central Axis Business Edition dual-drive network storage system. This storage solution was developed to meet the growing long-term storage requirements of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). With the Central Axis Business Edition network storage server, complicated network-storage management is a thing of the past. It offers simple automatic backup with robust data protection and secure remote access to business-critical information from any web browser. The small-business network storage solution protects business-critical information in the office and on the move, thereby safeguarding competitiveness.
Regardless of a company’s size, business information is its most important asset. As small home offices and small and medium-sized businesses grow, they need more storage capacity for their digital information. Central Axis Business Edition network storage makes managing and protecting this information easy. It can centrally store backups from up to 20 computers on the network in one secure location. Central Axis Business Edition also allows users to retain up to ten previous backup versions and schedule incremental backups.
Just a few minutes of downtime can limit the competitiveness of a company of any size. With both 1-terabyte (TB) drives configured as RAID 1, Central Axis Business Edition helps small and medium-sized businesses work efficiently and provides up to 1 TB of fully protected storage. Its “synching without thinking” feature provides complete protection: every time data is saved, it is immediately written to both hard drives. This prevents the loss of business documents in the event of a hardware failure. Users can also service this new network storage solution themselves, meaning they can simply replace a failed drive—an additional safeguard for their data. The two extra USB ports on Central Axis Business Edition can also accommodate another external hard drive for an additional backup of the network server. For an extra level of security, this drive can be kept off-site on a rotating basis in case of damage from fire or other unforeseen events. The additional USB interface can also be used to connect and operate a printer on the network.
Authorised users can securely access business data stored on Central Axis Business Edition from outside the office via an internet browser. Without an FTP server or software installation, small-business owners can give colleagues or customers access to selected files and folders. Because the firewall does not have to be disabled, network security is maintained.
“A device that offers simple and secure network backup is now essential for small businesses and home offices,” said Stephen Baker, Vice President of Industry Analysis at The NPD Group. “Demand in this product segment is constantly rising because buyers are looking for devices with precisely these core functions.”
Central Axis Business Edition network storage systems are compatible with Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X, making them ideal for multiplatform offices. Central Axis Business Edition storage servers have an Energy Star 4-rated power supply and are packaged in 100 percent recyclable material. Backed by Seagate’s unrivalled five-year warranty, Central Axis Business Edition drives provide confidence that critical business data is stored on a trusted drive.
